Description: The TH1 cells are derived from primary human renal proximal tubule epithelial cells (RPTECs) Immortalised by two lentiviral vectors carrying the human telomerase (hTERT) and the SV40 T antigen (Tag).Both the hTERT and Tag genes in the lentiviral vectors are flanked by loxP sites. Transient Cre expression in TH1 cells leads to efficient proviral deletion and upregulation of some renal specific activities. Removal of the genes for cell immortalization also significantly decreases the rate of cell proliferation and ultimately leads to cell senescence, suggesting that the cell cycle control remains intact in TH1 cells despite continuous passage of these cells in culture. |

They are also a major site of injury in a variety of congenital, metabolic, and inflammatory diseases. RPTEpiC can produce inflammatory mediators such as cytokines or chemokines and actively participate in acute inflammatory processes by affecting and directing leukocyte chemotaxis via the production of IL-8. RPTEpiC express IL-2R alpha and MHC class II antigens during inflammation after renal transplantation or in crescentic glomerulonephritis, indicating the capacity to participate in the pathogenesis of immune renal injury. Rat Kidney Proximal Tubular Epithelial Cells are grown in T25 tissue culture flask pre-coated with gelatin-based coating solution for 0.5 hour and incubated in Gentaur's Cell Culture Medium for 3-5 days. Cells are detached from flasks and immediately cryo-preserved in vials. Each vial contains 1x10^6 cells and is delivered frozen.Rat Kidney Proximal Tubular Epithelial Cells are characterized by immunofluorescent staining with antibodies of E-cadherin or ZO-1. Rat Kidney Proximal Tubular Epithelial Cells are negative for bacteria, yeast, fungi, and mycoplasma. Cells can be expanded for 3-7 passages at a split ratio of 1:2 or 1:3 under the cell culture conditions specified by Gentaur.
